Wellness While You Work

Wellness While You Work

In today’s time with work overloading and hours becoming noticeably shorter, we run out of time and miss out most of the things we aim to do for ourselves. Well, work cannot be put aside but there are a few things we need to start making time for.

Hit the road

Go outside as often as possible. You are always engaged in the confines of either your home or your workplace. Go outside and breathe in fresh air. Just taking a 5 minutes’ walk outside can help relieve stress and can bring a large impact on your body and life. Even when you are at the office, try to go out in the balcony or the roof or just the street and stay there for a while. If possible then have your lunch in the open air or go for a walk after having lunch, that’s the best thing you can do.

Mindful breathing

Your breaths are way more crucial then you contemplate. Focus on your breaths whenever you feel pressure, overwhelming or distress. Just close your eyes and focus on your breaths whenever a stressful situation occurs and inhale deeply through the nose. Fill your abdomen with air and slowly exhale through your mouth. Do this 3-4 times. Making sure that you are expanding the abdomen while taking deep breaths in. Next, gently place 2 fingers against one nostril sealing it closed. Inhale slowly through the one nostril and exhale through the same nostril. Doing this will leave your body calm entirely.

Self Massage

The spa is the doorway to a relaxing and stress-free life, but is it always possible to visit a spa and get treated? Not in reality. In reality, we are always busy and have work pilled-up one above another. Therefore we think of going to the spa but never make it. Well, the solution to this very serious problem is self-massaging. Take out about 5-10 minutes a day, sit in a relaxed position, close your eyes and put your fingers on either side of your temples. Softly press in and move your fingers in circular motion. Massage your temples and forehead, it seems like a very simple thing to do but has great benefits. Massaging these areas helps in relaxing and relieving stress. This will bring you comfort and you will feel calm and worriesless.

Tea

No matter what the world says tea lovers will always remain tea lovers. Well, that’s a good thing. A morning tea routine can actually awaken the mind and soul and bring warmth to the body. You can choose from a variety of teas and you will never run out of options. Different kind of teas has different effects on our bodies so choose the one which suits you the best. Just grab a cup of tea and own it, enjoy it and sip it with all the love.

Thoughts

It’s the irony that we don’t give much thought to our own thoughts. What it means is, we think a lot about different kind of things but we, in the long run, don’t think about the kind of things we are thinking. The type of thoughts which hovers in our head has various health effects of our bodies. Thus it is very necessary that we channelize our energy and our mind towards positive thoughts and keep the negative ones at bay.

Keep those muscles moving

Eating a healthy diet is not enough, you need to keep on the move to be fit and vice-versa. Lethargy and fatigue are very common in this generation and it’s not that we can’t overcome them. It’s just that we feel lethargic to do so as well. Try and make a schedule and go for a run every day, take the stairs in place of the lift and try to move around during office hours. The lazy side of yours will be gone soon.
